The Learn CBT Software
When UNIX was launched thirty-odd years ago,
it came with a Computer-Based Training
package called learn.
Learn ran under UNIX
and taught the basic commands and concepts
by getting the user to try commands
on the real system.
As UNIX developed,
the lessons got out of date and the learn package
was dropped from most systems.
We thought this was a great pity,
so we pulled the software from the archives,
got it running again,
and updated the lessons
to describe UNIX as it is today.
CBT is a good medium for delivering basic skills,
but it has its limits.
To make serious use of UNIX and Linux,
you will need more knowledge.
There are many good books,
but if you need to hit the ground running,
the quickest way is a taught course
led by an expert instructor.
